Alternatives to Prison: Non-Violent Offenders
Non-Violent Offenders and Prison Alternatives
“We should never send non-violent offenders to prison”
Prison is a place for keeping people accused of a crime awaiting trial or for keeping prisoners away from society.
Firstly, since violent prisoners require significant attention, non-violent prisoners should not be incarcerated.
Non-violent prisoners should be free from jail, especially for non-violent crimes involving violations of conditional liberty.
Most of them have families and are the sole providers, but sometimes they find it difficult to see a poor prisoner who just wanted to express their conditional freedom.
Instead, they could even have house arrest to finish their sentence.
For example, drug dealers are often treated as non-violent prisoners, yet they should be the ones locked up because they are the violent ones.
If there were more severe punishments for drug dealers and traffickers, there would not be so many. They do good work, now go and get a little more drug to a poor innocent and hook them to be able to convert them into addicts.
In conclusion, these types of violent prisoners who sell drugs are the ones who will have to be dealt with. And we are surrounded by a world that isn’t fair with justice.
Legalizing Prostitution: A Critical Look
Courts should declare prostitution as legal
Nowadays, more and more people, mainly women, are forced to prostitute themselves since the labor market is going through a complex situation, and the sex business seems to be increasingly praised.
Perhaps that is the reason why there is a strong general belief that prostitution should be made legal.
Firstly, if we normalize prostitution, any woman in poverty will be considered irresponsible for not selling her body and sexuality to escape a bad economic situation.
Women who practice this discipline suffer consequences such as anxiety, anguish, fears, and phobias, as well as unwanted pregnancies, vaginal and anal injuries, and multiple bone injuries.
Moreover, in many countries where prostitution is legalized, prostitutes are considered victims.
To sum up, I personally find that prostitution is not a job like any other for an obvious reason: almost all the people who engage in prostitution are women, and almost all the ‘clients’ are men.
Bullying Prevention: The Role of Legislation
Bullying Laws: The State Government Should Enact Legislation for Preventing Bullying
Bullying is really common in our society. About millions of young people in the world were bullied last year, and many are bullied every day. People who are bullied are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety.
They might lose interest in activities they enjoy, avoid spending time with people, and not go to classes or school, which negatively affects their learning.
But, should the state government do something about it?
To start with, if the State Government enacts legislation for preventing bullying, there will be fewer cases of bullying because the bullies will have to deal with the legislation.
Moreover, this will help the victims because in most cases, they don’t have the courage to face and deal with the problem, so the bullies win.
On the other hand, this must be a problem solved by society, not by legislation. Humans are smart enough to see what’s going wrong and be conscious that violence is not a good way to deal with people.
Furthermore, a good education is a better solution than using a legal method for stopping this. In most cases, the bully is an insecure person with a bad education, and there are also the kids that support that way of acting; they don’t bully anyone, but they support the bullies by being an audience; they laugh at or encourage the children who are bullying.
So, in my opinion, education is the best solution to that problem. If people grow up with a good education and ideals, in the future we won’t deal with this type of people/offenders.
Education will face these insecure people, changing their way to see life, and there will be no need to use legislation.
