AutoCAD Commands and File Formats

RESVISTA

Controls the accuracy of circles, arcs, splines, and ellipses on the screen.

PLINEGEN

Determines how a dashed line type is applied to a polyline.

Formats

  • SV$: Auto-save file extension (temporary files).
  • DWT: Template files.
  • DWG: Drawing files.
  • DXF: Drawing files (for compatibility).
  • LOG: Command history (F2).
  • BAK: Backup files.
  • SHX: Shapefile source.
  • TTF: TrueType fonts.
  • RTF: Rich Text Format. Text exchange, higher quality than TXT, readable by any word processor.

SAVEFILEPATH

Indicates where automatic saves are stored.

SAVETIME

Determines the interval for automatic drawing saves.

SORTENTS

Controls the management of objects.

Ctrl

Allows for cycling through the selection of overlapping objects.

FORCE CURSOR

Creates an invisible grid that causes the cursor to move in discrete jumps. You can set the width of the jumps.

ARISTA (Trim)

Determines whether an object is trimmed to the implicit edge of another object or only to an object that actually intersects it in 3D space.

Elongated

Extends a line or polyline to a user-selected boundary (another object).

ZOOM FACTOR

Enlarges or reduces the image by a specified number of times, relative to the drawing’s boundary unit value.

VERTEX EDIT

Used within the editpol command to move vertices, delete them, or adjust the thickness of polyline segments.

DTEXT

Creates single-line text. The text is displayed as it will appear.

DTEXT Special Characters:

  • %%d: Degrees (º)
  • %%o: Overline (for underlining)
  • %%u: Underline
  • %%p: Plus/minus symbol (±)
  • %%c: Diameter symbol (⌀)

MTEXT

Creates paragraph text, similar to a text editor. The result is displayed after closing the text editor that opens when this command is selected.

ELLIPSE

Creates complete ellipses and elliptical arcs. For true ellipses, set PELLIPSE to 0.

Layer Management

  • Deactivation of a Layer: Enables/disables the display of the layer. Objects drawn on this layer are not visible on the screen or in prints, but they are considered when regenerating the drawing.
  • Disable/Reuse: Similar to deactivation, but the layer’s objects are *not* considered when regenerating the drawing.
  • Lock/Unlock: Prevents objects on the layer from being edited.

ALIGN

Moves, rotates, or scales objects to align them with other objects. Add origin points to the objects to be aligned, and add destination points to the objects they should align with. Up to 3 origin and destination points can be used. When used with text, ALIGN maintains the text’s width factor.

OFFSET

Creates a new object that is parallel and equidistant to an existing object. Applicable to polylines, arcs, circles, and lines.

DDSELECT

Sets parameters for object selection.

DDPTYPE

Selects the point type and size.

  • Pdmode: Type of point.
  • PDSIZE: Point Size.

APERTURE

Resizes the object selection target.

THICKNESS

This value is also multiplied by the inverse of the scale.

MIRRTEXT

(Active) When generating a symmetry, illegible text is inverted.

ATRVIS

A command that controls the visibility of attributes.

DD

Opens a dialog box.

DDUNITS

Reverses the direction of angles.

PICKBOX

Sets the size of the object selection target.

DDAMODOS

Contains settings for FORZARCURSOR, ORTHO, and GRID.

IDVIEW

Saves specific views of the drawing.

DDEDIC

Modifies text.

DDMODIFY

Modifies the properties of text.

DDCHPROP

Modifies the properties of individual objects.

ISOLINES

Sets the number of contour lines on the surface of objects.

SORTENTS

Controls object management.

Designation

  • Selection Window: Objects must be completely inside the window.
  • Capture Selection: Objects that are fully or partially inside the window are selected.

Function Keys

  • F2: Command History.
  • F3: Object Snap (OSNAP).
  • F5: Change ISOPLANE.
  • F6: COORDINATE display.
  • F7: GRID display.
  • F8: ORTHO mode.
  • F9: FORZARCURSOR (Snap).
