Business Dialogues and a Honeymoon in Mexico

Business Dialogues

CiclosCiclone: A Customer Service Call

A: CiclosCiclone, can I help you?

B: Yes, I’m phoning from Ballyclare, in Northern Ireland. Could I speak to Diego Martin, please?

A: I’m afraid he’s out of the office right now. Can I help you?

B: Well, I sent him a text message and he hasn’t replied. It’s really quite urgent.

A: Can you tell me what it’s about?

B: It’s a bit complicated to explain. I need a copy of a certificate for customs. Maybe he didn’t get my message. Can I just check his mobile — 07636 746384?

A: Let me check. Yes, that’s the right number. Listen, why don’t you send the details to me by email and I’ll send you a copy of the certificate as an attached PDF?

B: Yes, that’s a good idea. What’s your email address?

A: Jim, that’s J-I-M, dot, J-F-A, at CiclosCiclone, dot, net. CiclosCiclone is all one word.

B: Can I just check that? Jim, dot, JFA, at CiclosCiclone, dot, net.

A: Yes, that’s right.

B: Great. I’ll deal with the email straight away. By the way, my name’s David, David Holmbrook. And you are, Jim …?

A: Kutz, Jim Kutz. Don’t worry about the certificate. You’ll have it by this afternoon.

B: Okay, thanks for your help.

A: You’re welcome. Bye.

Missed Flight Connection

A: Hello. My connecting flight, 1B621, was delayed so I’ve missed the flight to Caracas.

B: Yes, sir. I’m sorry about that. You’re booked on the next flight.

A: Yes, but it’s not until 11 tonight, right?

B: Yes. I’m afraid there’s nothing before.

A: That’s nearly eight hours to wait. Can you recommend a hotel I could try?

B: You could try the Travel Inn. It’s not far from the terminal building.

A: Thanks. I really need somewhere to sleep.

B: Would you like me to phone for you, sir?

A: No, that’s okay. I need to stretch my legs anyway. Thanks very much.

Hotel Check-In

A: Good afternoon.

B: Good afternoon. Do you have any rooms available?

A: Yes, sir. Is it just for tonight?

B: Yes. Well, actually I have a flight at 11 this evening so I’ll check out in a few hours. I really need to get some sleep. Is it possible to pay for a room by the hour? I mean, do you have any reduced rates or anything?

A: Err … no, sir. I’m afraid not. I have to charge you for the whole night. I’m sorry, but that’s the hotel policy.

B: Well, never mind. I’ll take it anyway.

A: Okay, could I see your passport please? And I’ll need a credit card.

B: Yes, of course. Here you are.

A: Would you like anything sent up to your room?

B: Yes, please. I’d like a tomato and cheese sandwich and a sparkling water. Oh, and I need to send some emails. Is there Internet access available?

A: Yes, of course. You can pick up the hotel Wi-Fi in every room. And I’ll have the food sent up right away.

B: Right, thank you.

A: You’re welcome. Have a good stay.

Room Service and Early Morning Call

A: Room service. My name is Johan. Can I help you?

B: Yes, this is room 301. Could I have an early morning call, please?

A: Certainly, sir. What time would you like the call?

B: At half past six.

A: 6:30. No problem. Would you like breakfast sent up to your room?

B: No, thanks. I’ll have it in the dining room.

A: The dining room doesn’t open for breakfast until 7:30.

B: Oh, in that case I will have it in my room. Just coffee and a croissant.

A: Coffee and a croissant. Anything else?

B: No, that’s all.

A: Okay. Good night, sir.

B: Thank you. Good night.

A Honeymoon in Mexico

My last holidays were my best holidays because it was my honeymoon. I enjoyed a lot with my husband and we met new people. We travelled to Mexico one year ago, one day after we married. We stayed there ten days.

After we arrived at the airport of Mexico we went to the hotel which was very big and beautiful. Then we went to our room and *came in*. It was bigger than my flat. Opposite the bed there was a table with a lot of *fruits on it*. Next to the room there was a swimming pool and near it there was the beach. It’s the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen.

There were four different restaurants in the hotel: Mexican, international, self-service and a restaurant where you could eat seafood. We loved having breakfast in the international restaurant and *dining* in the Mexican restaurant. My husband ate a lot during the trip so when we came back to Girona he *gained weight*.

In the morning we sunbathed and bathed in the swimming pool or the beach and in the afternoon, we visited a lot of places with a guide. At night we went out or stayed in the hotel. While the moon was *shining* we walked near the beach every night.

Finally, we came back to Girona and we started a new life.

In conclusion, it was an unforgettable trip and a fantastic *holiday*.
