Christmas Moscoso: Pursuing a Master’s in Criminal Sciences
Application for Master’s Degree in Criminal Sciences
Dear Staff,
My name is Christmas Moscoso, and I hold a degree in legal sciences and a law degree from the University of O’Higgins. I currently work in a law firm as a defense attorney, litigating in the criminal area. I am writing to express my interest in applying for the Master’s Degree in Criminal Sciences and Criminal Procedure offered by the Catholic University of Chile. I believe this program would significantly enhance my knowledge in this field, as it offers a comprehensive curriculum.
I am particularly drawn to this master’s program because of the in-depth subject matter and the opportunity to further my studies with the aim of both learning and teaching. My work experience has allowed me to teach civil law and procedural law at the university where I studied. However, my primary focus is now on the criminal area. My future aspiration is to become a prosecutor, and I am confident that this master’s degree will provide me with the necessary knowledge and skills.
I pride myself on building strong relationships with my clients, which allows them to feel comfortable sharing information with me. I also enjoy public speaking, particularly with foundations, and I have honed this skill through litigation. I am efficient in processing judicial cases due to my strong understanding of procedural branches, which is why I enjoy teaching it.
While I may lack extensive experience in the civil area, I am a capable instructor in this field. However, working in civil law is not my primary strength. In criminal law, I excel at defending my clients due to my practical experience. Nevertheless, I am eager to continue learning through the master’s program I am applying for. I am also a strong team player when handling cases with colleagues. One of my weaknesses is my competitive nature; if I lose a case, I dedicate all available resources to ensuring a favorable outcome for my client.
The Master’s Degree offered by the Catholic University is not only comprehensive and accommodating to the schedules of lawyers but is also accredited for five years. The academic staff is highly organized and knowledgeable, with experienced teachers who provide a strong foundation in the subject matter. This makes it an ideal program for my professional aspirations.
Based on my work experience and acquired knowledge, I am confident that I possess the skills necessary to excel in this master’s program and develop into a highly competent professional in the criminal area. My experience teaching at the university demonstrates my ability to educate others, and I believe that further education will equip me with the tools to teach criminal law and criminal procedure in a more engaging manner.
In conclusion, I am confident in my ability to grasp the topics covered in the master’s program and to teach the subject matter effectively in the future. I am a strong communicator, adept at defending my clients, and capable of managing both study and work commitments, as I understand the demanding nature of this career. I believe that the Catholic University of Chile’s master’s program will enhance my knowledge and provide greater recognition for my career as a lawyer. My passion for criminal law and criminal procedure ensures that I will be dedicated to my studies.
