Introduction
This walkthrough covers all secret missions in Devil May Cry for PlayStation 2. While the main game is straightforward, these secret missions can be challenging to find and complete. This guide provides detailed instructions and tips for each mission.
Clarifications
- Before starting a secret mission, read the corresponding section in this guide.
- Missions are listed by their in-game number, name, and mission location.
- If you fail a mission, exit and re-enter the room to try again.
Secret Mission 1: Critical Impact (Mission 3)
After defeating Phantom, return to the broken bridge and jump into the water. Defeat the Sin Scissors using Alastor, but finish it with a single pistol shot. The water will drain your health, but it won’t kill you.
Secret Mission 2: Phantom Offspring (Mission 4)
At the start of Mission 4, turn around and go back to the room where you fought Phantom. Kill 100 Phantom offspring. Guns are recommended. The offspring are grouped around the room. Once you’ve killed enough, you’ll receive the fragment.
Secret Mission 3: Phantom Offspring 2 (Mission 4)
On the opposite end of the corridor from Secret Mission 2, enter the door on the right. Kill 100 Phantom offspring without using guns. This room is smaller, so focus on the largest groups of offspring.
Secret Mission 4: Three Beasts (Mission 4)
After using the lion’s pride and encountering the first Shadow, go back down the hall to the plane room and take the elevator down. Kill the three Shadows that appear. Be prepared for the camera angles, which can make it difficult to see all three at once. You only have one attempt; if you die, you’ll need to reload.
Secret Mission 5: Eye In The Kyklops! (Mission 7)
Re-enter the room where you first saw the Beezelbubs. Make one Kyklops kill the other. Position yourself between them and jump at the right time. They don’t have to die simultaneously, just at each other’s hands. You can also attempt this after Mission 7, before Mission 8.
Secret Mission 6: Wandering Ghosts (Mission 11)
At the beginning of Mission 11, re-enter the final room of Mission 10. Use the Sin Scissors to jump and reach the blue gem fragment between the two trees. Do not kill the Sin Scissors.
Secret Mission 7: Aquatic Cell (Mission 14)
Between Missions 13 and 14, return to the ship and enter the captain’s cabin. This underwater mission requires you to eliminate eight Blades. Keep moving while shooting to avoid their missiles. The blue gem fragment will be collected automatically.
Secret Mission 8: Treasure Of The Scythe (Mission 15)
At the start of Mission 15, return to where you obtained the shield emblems. Examine the wall with the skull image. Defeat the three Shadows. Don’t leave the spiked area, as it can hinder the fight.
Secret Mission 9: Straight From The Quiet (Mission 16)
At the start of Mission 16, exit and re-enter the arena where you fought Griffon. Use the Sargasso to reach the blue gem fragment in the air. Jump from one to the next, then leap backward to grab the fragment. Don’t kill the Sargasso.
Secret Mission 10: Shadows In The Dark (Mission 16)
After fighting Nightmare, go to the aircraft room. Defeat four Shadows: two in the aircraft room, one in the main room (near the statue), and one accessible through the red gate near the castle entrance. They appear in groups of two, making this mission less challenging than 4 and 8.
Secret Mission 11: Celestial Blue Gem (Mission 17)
At the start of Mission 17, return to the broken bridge. Cross without falling to start the mission. If you fall, reload the game from the end of Mission 16. Use the Death Scythe to reach the blue gem fragment in the air. Don’t kill the Death Scythe.
Secret Mission 12: Hidden Bangle (Mission 21)
In the starting room, examine the wall opposite the time god statue. This mission has two parts: “The Labyrinth” and “The Boiler.” In “The Labyrinth,” always take the deviating path (right) to reach domes containing Nobodys and a blue gem. The third dome leads to “The Boiler.” Defeat a “Dragon” (attack its head when it pauses), then two Frosts. The path to the bangle will then be activated.
