Early English Language Learning: Strategies and Insights

In our opinion, this idea isn’t true or false. On the other hand, we think that it is important to insert English as a separate subject. It could be a good idea firstly to teach basic things that all of us use in our daily life. We think that it’s not true because kids get distracted very easily, and it’s not easy for them to be concentrated on the same activity. We think that organizing activities related to the same topic could be a good idea to learn about that theme and to internalize that information in an appropriate way. For example, a good way of teaching vocabulary may be repeating the words frequently. If we change activities frequently, children won’t fall into a routine. We think that the English language is not taught like others. If the children need to understand something, we can explain it in a language they understand. We consider that the meaning context affects the development process of the learner. These years we have studied that the types of activities we do with children are important in their development. If we do different exercises or activities with the children, they will be more motivated and they will learn more than if they do the same activity every day. The mentioned routines are a good way of learning because they allow students to get organized and not to mess with the different topics given in class. As we have already learned in the degree, using different voices is a tool to attract children’s attention. English should be inserted in a class as the other languages taught at the school. It is very important to insert the English language as a natural one. People from the Basque Country have more abilities to learn a new language. The text written by Cenoz says that the level is lower than what parents want. Not understanding the language well could affect subjects such as Science or Maths. English was going to be taught as a L3. Nowadays, some schools use the “Early Multilingualism Project”. Many investigations have been carried out, such as the one by Cenoz. The project consists in learning languages in an integrated manner. In the Basque Country it is not easy to learn English. These languages are learned at the same time. In this project, twenty schools participated and applied different strategies. The reasons for these low levels are large class sizes. This project was created to unify the teaching methodologies for all languages because what has been learned in one language is transferred to others. In addition, Basque is the L1 for most students. With these projects, the need to train teachers to teach these subjects in English appears.

Regarding the importance of the topic, this story has been chosen for 4-year-old children. This is a useful technique for telling stories. In the story, there are types of food that children see in their daily life. The kind of vocabulary that is used here is for five-year-old children. We propose these worksheets to be worked on after the story. The younger they are, the easier they learn. It will take 10 minutes to recount the story we have chosen. Children will be focused on every detail. We will tell the story and implement the activity in the morning. The competitions worked with this song, and they are related to different areas. In the video about the age factor, it explains that the story consists of a few letters. Children will learn about animals and where they live. It is important to work on this topic, and it is taught at this age. We give them a meaningful context, and what they are learning makes sense to them. These students are starting to learn English. As educators, it is important to know how the relationship with the family is. It is very important that the story has little text and to ask questions to help children understand the story better. Children are going to be sitting on the floor and looking at the screen. The Dip Dip Dip project consists of different units, which are divided into sessions. For these activities, the same procedure as in the previous unit is used. The unit that was assigned to me was 5.3. Depending on the activity done, the material they use will change. We can see that there are eight units. The objectives that we want children to achieve are the following. The techniques that have been used in these activities are the following, with the intention of making the learning more significant. The activities are related to the story and are appropriate for four-year-old children. The stories are included in songs and rhymes, but there aren’t many crafts. It’s important that kids are in contact with other languages since they are kids. In these main activities, different materials are used. In this unit, all the children are going to do the performance. In each session, the activity type changes. The teacher shows them examples that are familiar to them before doing the activity.
