Modal Verbs
(Infinitive verb, the verb is not conjugated in any form)
- can/can’t = poder (possibility – permission)
- could/couldn’t = podría
- should/shouldn’t = deber – debes (suggestions and advice)
- must/mustn’t = debo de obligación (personal). Not as strong
- have to = tener que hacer, an obligation that has consequences if not done
