MI CIUDAD

I live in Rota, which is a small town on the south coast of Spain, with a population of over 25.000 inhabitants.

Rota is a beautiful city, and it is great for walking aorund. There are a lot of narrow streets, and it is full of bars, markets and there are three churches. There is a beach and in summer people go to Rota for their holidays. There is an area called Costilla where there are a lot of outdoor bars and restaurants and there is a lot of nightlife on Saturdays.

The weather here is very good. The summer is wonderful, and it is great for going to the beach. The winter can be very wet. It doesn’t usually rain but sometimes it rains for days.

I live in a modern flat in Ferrol. My flat is on the first floor. I live with two flatmates.

When you go in, ypu can find a hall. On the right, there is a kitchen. Opposite the entrance door, there is a sitting room and on the left there is a corridor to the bedrooms and the bathroom. The flat has two bathroom and three bedrooms. The bedrooms are single.

My favourite room is my bedroom. My bedroom is big. There is a double bed near the door. There is a desk opposite the bed where I do my homework. Beside the desk, there is a big wardrobe. There is also a big window next to the door and I put my bag between the door and the window.

I love my flat, but it isn’t mine. I’m renting it.

Antes solía vivir en un piso de 40 metros cuadrados, pero ahora vivo en una casa mucho más grande. Es una casa de dos pisos y un ático de 200 metros cuadrados. Cuando entras en mi casa, puedes ver un hall enorme en el que tengo un mueble con un espejo a la derecha y un colgador a la izquierda. Hay un pasillo enfrente de la puerta de la calle que lleva al salón-comedor y una puerta a la izquierda que conduce a la cocina. En la cocina tengo todo lo que necesito. A la derecha hay un frigorífico enorme y al lado hay una encimera con la vitrocerámica y el fregadero. A la izquierda hay una mesa con cuatro sillas para desayunar y, en ocasiones, comer. Debajo y encima de la encimera hay alacenas donde guardo la cubertería y la vajilla. En el salón tengo un sofá enorme que divide los dos ambientes: el salón y el comedor. Enfrente del salón hay un mueble para la televisión y entre ellos hay una pequeña mesa de centro de cristal. No hay nada en las paredes, aunque están pintadas de azul.

Si vas arriba, hay tres habitaciones a la derecha y dos baños a la izquierda. La primera es la habitación principal y tiene una cama tamaña de rey y un armario empotrado con un montón de cajones. Hay también un baño dentro de la habitación, con una bañera y una pequeña ventana. A ambos lados de la cama hay dos mesitas de noche y una cómoda al fondo de la habitación. Me encanta mi casa.

Before I used to live in a 40 – square- meter flat, but now I live in a house much bigger. It´s a two-floor house and a 200-meter – square attic. When you go into my house, you can see a huge hall there is a piece of furniture with a mirror on the right and a hanger on the left. There is a corridor in front of the main door which leads you to the living-dining room and a door on the left which leads to the kitchen. In the kitchen I have everything what I need. On the right there is a huge fridge and next to it there is a kitchen counter with the sink and the ceramic hob. On the left there is a table with four chairs for breakfast and sometimes to have lunch. Under and over the kitchen counter there are cupboards where I keep the cutlery and crockery. In the living room there is a huge sofa that divides two places the living room and the dinning room. Opposite living room there is piece tv furniture and between them there is a little glass coffee table. There is not anything on the walls, though they are painted blue.

If you go upstairs, there are three bedrooms on the right and two bathrooms on the left. The first room is the main room and there is a king-size bed and a built-in wardrobe with a lot of drawers, there is a bathroom inside the room too, with a tube and a little window, Both sides of the bed there are two bedside tables and a chest of drawers at the end of the room. I love my house.

LAST YEAR MY BEST FRIEND PEDRO INVITED ME TO STAY IN HIS NEW HOUSE FOR A WEEK. HE HAS JUST BOUGHT A NEW HOUSE, WHICH IS SITUATED IN A RESIDENTIAL AREAIN FERROL. IT IS NOT FAR FROM THE CITY CENTRE. IT IS A DETACHED HOUSE, SO HE DOESN´T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT NEIGHBOURS. HOWEVER, THE OTHER HOUSES ARE SEMI-DETACHED. THE HOUSE IS IN A QUIETSTREET WITH MANY TREES AND NOT MUCH TRAFFIC. IT HAS TWO FLATS. THE WALLS ARE MADE OF STONEAND IT HAS WOODEN FLOORSALL THE ROOMS HAVE LOW ROOFS AND A BIG WINDOWS, SO IT IS VERY BRIGHT. IT HAS FANTASTIC VIEWS OF THE MOUNTAINS. THERE ARE SOLAR PANELS ON THE ROOF THERE IS ALSO CENTRAL HEATING AND A SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM. ON THE GROUND FLOOR. THERE IS A OPEN KITCHEN, SMALL TOILET AND A VERY COMFORTABLE LIVING ROOM.

ON THE FIRST FLOOR THERE ARE TWO SINGLE BEDROOMS AND A DOUBLE BEDROOM. MY FAVOURITE ROOM IS THE LIVING ROOM BECAUSE IT IS THE BIGGEST IN THE HOUSE THERE ARE THREE WINDOWS SO IT´S VERY LIGHT. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM THERE IS A LIGHT GREEN CARPET WITH SOME CUSHIONS THERE AREN´T ANY CHAIRS BUT THERE ARE TWO BIG DARK GREEN SOFAS BETWEEN THEM THERE IS A SMALL GLASS TABLE THE VASE WITH FLOWERS IS ON THE TABLE ON THE RIGHT, THERE IS A RACK FULL OF OLD BOOKS. ON THE LEFT, THERE IS A PIANO AND A STANDING LAMPTHERE ARE ALSO SOME FAMILY PHOTOS ON THE WALLS.

MI CIUDAD SOÑADA ESTÁ EN UNA BONITA BAHÍA. ES MÁS PEQUEÑA PERO MUCHO MÁS MODERNA QUE MI CIUDAD NATAL, PERO ES MENOS INTERESANTE. ME GUSTA PORQUE HAY MONTONES DE TEATROS, MUSEOS Y PARQUES.

LA GENTE TIENE UN NIVEL DE VIDA MÁS ALTO QUE EN MI CIUDAD PORQUE ES MENOS CARO QUE EN FERROL. ES UN POCO MÁS CARO ALQUILAR UN PISO EN BADALONA Y MIS FACTURAS SON MUCHO MÁS GRANDES. EN REALIDAD, AUNQUE MI SUELDO EN BADALONA ES EL MISMO QUE EN FERROL, TENGO QUE TRABAJAR MÁS PARA CONSEGUIR EL MISMO NIVEL DE VIDA. LO MEJOR ES QUE PUEDO IR ANDANDO A TODOS SITIOS PORQUE ES UNA CIUDAD PEQUEÑA. HAY MENOS TRÁFICO QUE EN FERROL Y EL TRANSPORTE PÚBLICO ES MUY BUENO. EN FERROL ME LLEVA SOBRE 30 MINUTOS LLEGAR AL TRABAJO Y LOS CONDUCTORES EN BADALONA NO SON TAN AGRESIVOS COMO EN FERROL.

BADALONA NO ES TAN PELIGROSA COMO FERROL, Y ES MENOS VIOLENTA. ME SIENTO MUCHO MÁS SEGURO VIVIENDO AQUÍ.

SIN EMBARGO, LA COMIDA EN FERROL ES MUCHO MEJOR, ES MÁS FRESCA Y BARATA. LOS RESTAURANTES NO SON TAN CAROS Y EL SERVICIO ES MEJOR.

BADALONA ES LA CIUDAD MÁS LIMPIA QUE CONOZCO Y NO ES LA MÁS CONTAMINADA DEL MUNDO.

MY DREAM CITY IS ON A BEAUTIFUL BAY. IT’S SMALLER BUT MUCH MORE MODERN THAN MY HOME TOWN, BUT IT’S LESS INTERESTING. I LIKE IT BECAUSE THERE ARE LOTS OF THEATRES, MUSEUMS AND PARKS.

PEOPLE HAVE A HIGHER STANDARD OF LIVING THAN IN MY CITY BECAUSE IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE THAN IN FERROL. IT IS A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE TO RENT A FLAT IN BADALONA AND MY BILLS ARE MUCH HIGHER. IN REALITY, ALTHOUGH MY SALARY IN BADALONA IS THE SAME AS IN FERROL, I HAVE TO WORK MORE TO GET THE SAME STANDARD OF LIVING. THE BEST THING IS THAT I CAN WALK EVERYWHERE BECAUSE IT IS A SMALL CITY. THERE IS LESS TRAFFIC THAN IN FERROL AND THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS VERY GOOD. IN FERROL IT TAKES ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO GET TO WORK AND THE DRIVERS IN BADALONA ARE NOT AS AGGRESSIVE AS IN FERROL.

BADALONA IS NOT AS DANGEROUS AS FERROL, AND IS LESS VIOLENT. I FEEL MUCH SAFER LIVING HERE.

HOWEVER, THE FOOD IN FERROL IS MUCH BETTER, FRESHER AND CHEAPER. THE RESTAURANTS ARE NOT SO EXPENSIVE AND THE SERVICE IS BETTER.

BADALONA IS THE CLEANEST CITY I KNOW AND IT IS NOT THE MOST POLLUTED CITY IN THE WORLD.
