Music Production & Concert Preparation: A Comprehensive Look
Music Production & Concert Preparation
To reach a record company producer, a band needs a sample of their songs (demo), presented personally or through a manager. This demo is evaluated by the Artistic Director (the headhunters). If the material is promising, the company signs a contract and finances the album recording, under the direction of a music producer.
Once a master copy is taped in the recording studio, it’s taken to a company that makes copies of the disc. These copies are then supplied by a distributor to music stores, while the record company promotes the product.
Technological Advances in Music Distribution
Technological advances have changed the traditional music distribution model. Today, an artist can record and edit their own music and distribute it through the internet.
The Role of the Producer
The producer is in charge of controlling the entire production process of the disc. They capture the artist’s interpretation and edit it to be an attractive product for the market. They must master the technical aspects, have musical training, possess psychological skills to understand the artist, and have some marketing knowledge.
