Personal Stories and Reflections: A Collection
A Nightmare
It was a beautiful Sunday morning. The sun was shining up in the sky, and although it was hot, it was a very nice day. I got into my car and drove towards the beach. When I got out of the car, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the sea. It was so blue. I walked along the seaside for about an hour. Suddenly, I saw a strange creature coming from the sea. I looked around, but nobody else seemed to see it. I was the only one. As I was quite nervous, I decided to go back to the car. But when I was just reaching it, a scary scream paralyzed me. People started to shout and run desperately. I didn’t know what to do. I turned on the engine, but my car was dead. Then I tried to call 911, but my cell phone displayed the message ‘low battery’. I was so terrified. I couldn’t even move. I closed my eyes and I prayed. Suddenly I heard a familiar voice. My mum was telling me ‘Wake up, Natty. It’s time for school.’
Last Christmas
Last Christmas my parents, my sister and I went to my aunt’s home to have dinner with them. Every Christmas we do the same. When we arrived at my aunt’s home, we helped her to prepare the supper, and after that, we sat at the table and started to eat.
I think that it is a nice meeting because when you were a child you had more free time and you could see your family frequently, but when you grow up and start to work, you have less free time to share with your family.
That night you can share food and experiences with the rest of the family.
Mobile Phones
Nowadays, more than 50% of the population has a mobile phone. What is the cause? The mobile phone has changed the form in which we work and we live our lives. Every time there are more people that use the mobile phone to work and for that reason, the great demand for the product.
One of the main advantages of the mobile phone is that you can call any part of the world. Another advantage is that you always can be located with this device if you have any emergency.
One of the main disadvantages would be sometimes the unnecessary use that young people give to the mobile phone, they become addicted. Another disadvantage would be the lack of time in our lives and for that reason, we depend more on the telephone.
I really think that it is a great invention, according to the use that we want to give to the phone. Utility or dependency? That is the great problem.
A Letter from Paris
Dear Helen,
I am writing from Paris. It is a surprise for you, isn’t it? My husband surprised me and he gave me this present and in one day we had to prepare all things, and we traveled by plane on Sunday.
As you know, I have never been to this amazing city. It is exciting. There are people from all the world, there are lots of museums and today we are visiting the Eiffel Tower. Then we are having dinner in a romantic restaurant near the river so after that we are going to walk to see the lights.
We are staying for four days in an expensive hotel.
I am eating a big chocolate ice cream, it is delicious! I am thinking of you!
So I will come back soon and I will show you the photos.
Lots of kisses,
Lur
Holidays in Cordoba
I visited Cordoba four years ago. I stayed there for one week and I really enjoyed it. Everything was perfect in the city, people are very clean, they take care of their streets, and it is difficult to see places full of rubbish. I loved the way people decorate their houses with a lot of flowers and trees and also shops have a great presentation, some of them are very creative.
There are a lot of clubs where you can see many people going during the weekend to practice all kinds of sports and to spend the day with the family. But the most beautiful thing for me were the mountains. You can appreciate them better if you are on the top of a building, for example in a hotel, like I was. It is a fantastic view.
People from Cordoba are very famous for their particular accent, and it is incredible how after spending only one week in the city you can finish talking in the same way. That was completely funny.
