PlayStation Co-op: Skills and Experience
Why Work for PlayStation?
As a longtime user of your products, I have seen the high quality of work that this organization is so committed to, which is a trait that I share as well. Additionally, one of the things that I read on the company website is that this organization offers a relatively accelerated opportunity for personal career growth. This personally stood out to me, as my career aspirations align closely with what this role has to offer. I would like to work for PlayStation full-time and believe that this co-op is the perfect opportunity for me to apply my expertise to an organization that I would like to begin my career at.
Overcoming Obstacles in AI Studies
In one of my classes, Introduction to AI, the mathematical concepts that we were required to know were far beyond what was in the prerequisite for this course. Due to this, I had to learn multivariate calculus in order to get a better understanding of how to take the gradient descent of a function. This was beyond the scope of anything that I had learned before, so it was quite a daunting task. In order for me to overcome this and prepare for my exam, I first identified the exact topics in multivariate calculus and researched them.
About Me
I’m known for being a detail-oriented, well-organized team player. I aim to never miss deadlines, communicate with my team, and can juggle multiple tasks at once if the situation demands it. I am passionate about frontend development, and I am eager to apply my expertise and begin my career at an organization that I share values with, such as PlayStation.
Meeting Tight Deadlines
- As a student, one of the most frequent hardships that we face is a lack of time to get all of our work done.
- One of my goals was to graduate a semester early, but this meant that I had to overload my schedule many semesters.
- Oftentimes, I had many deadlines to meet in a short period of time, and I would get overly stressed as I couldn’t visualize myself finishing these all on time.
- I was able to adapt to the situation by reorganizing my entire schedule in advance and working intelligently instead of just working hard.
- I would designate certain blocks in my schedule in which I dedicated myself to certain tasks, ensuring that I met a quota of hours studied every week.
- Additionally, I immediately broke down the project into smaller tasks and prioritized tasks based on their urgency and impact on the overall project.
My Strengths: Adaptability and Collaboration
I am very proud of my strengths in adaptability and collaboration. I have always found myself as someone who works well with others and in teams. In my previous position at MaisonVN, I worked on a project to improve the SEO of the organization with a team of people who didn’t speak English and were in a different time zone. I ensured that I was still able to communicate with my team well by utilizing live translating tools and adapting my sleep schedule to the organization’s time zone so that I could meet their expectations.
My Weaknesses: Overcoming My Inner Critic
My inner critic can be debilitating at times. I take pride in producing good work, but I feel like I struggle feeling satisfied with it, which has led to burnout in the past. However, I’ve started to push back against this inner voice by taking care of myself before and after work. I’m also learning to recognize when my inner critic is right and when I need to dismiss it.
