Sisters: A Sci-Fi Adventure of Two Sisters and a Mysterious Light
Sisters: A Sci-Fi Adventure
Daniela’s Admiration
Daniela gazed at her sister Roberta with admiration. She always wanted to be like her – determined, confident, and positive. Everyone loved Roberta, and Daniela knew they liked her too, but her admiration for her sister had always been greater. She felt no jealousy; on the contrary, she felt more pride than anyone. She was Roberta’s biggest fan, and it showed in everything she did. When Roberta looked forward to something, it was enough for Daniela to share that anticipation, and when Roberta was sad, Daniela felt the same.
Inseparable Sisters
The two sisters were inseparable and had a lot of fun together because they enjoyed the same things. They used to play and run around the lawn and the street outside their home. They also played ball, watched TV, read, and did everything else together. They lived in a beautiful house in the mountains, surrounded by greenery. Their mother took them to school in the morning and picked them up in the evenings. When they arrived home, they showered and did their homework. Both were very dedicated students, and when one had a doubt in a subject, the other would readily help her.
In those days, it was difficult for Daniela to connect with people, and she sometimes felt misunderstood by everyone. Her parents were loving but showed a preference for Ricardo, their youngest child. The only person who shared her hopes, joys, sorrows, and everything she felt was her sister, Roberta.
Roberta’s Understanding
Roberta noticed the thoughtful look on her sister’s face and smiled. It was essential for her to know Daniela well, and her sister was her anchor. Dani was quiet and always supportive. She was the strength Roberta needed, the rationality, the grounding force. If it weren’t for Daniela, Roberta surely would have been very different. They complemented each other and would never be separated, though some people might wish otherwise.
A Mysterious Light
One night, Daniela woke up with a start. Lying in bed, she looked out the window and saw a bright blue light. She shook Roberta awake, feeling a chill of fear run down her spine:
“Wake up, Roberta.”
Roberta muttered sleepily, “What is it, Dani?”
“Look out the window,” said Daniela.
Roberta turned in the direction indicated and saw the light. She rubbed her face and looked again, not believing what she saw. She stood up, looking out the window, thinking.
“What should we do, Roberta?”
“Well, I think we should go and take a closer look,” said Roberta, fixing her hair.
Daniela looked at her sister, frightened, but there was nothing to discuss. For her, any wish of Roberta’s was an order. The two stood up, put on their robes, and descended the stairs, one foot in front of the other, taking the utmost care not to wake their parents. The staircase, covered with a brown carpet, helped to muffle the noise. Roberta took the keys that were in a commemorative beer mug on the shelf. She opened the door and they went out into the garden.
“I think the light is smaller,” said Daniela.
“Look closer, it’s farther away, not smaller,” said Roberta.
Drawn to the Light
They headed toward the light, getting closer and closer, drawn by curiosity to know what it was. They came so close that they were directly below the light. Increasingly, the light enveloped them. It was a bluish light, which gave the impression of being cold, but that was not what they felt. Quite the contrary, the temperature was warm, welcoming, and caused some drowsiness. The light, at the top, pulled them upwards, slowly. Shortly thereafter, they saw a flying saucer in the sky. Due to sleepiness and the smoothness with which they were lifted off the ground, they did not perceive what was happening. Upon arrival at the saucer, they were greeted warmly. They were in a dreamlike state and could not fully appreciate what these beings were like. They were gently placed in a hammock and fell asleep. Daniela, who was a lighter sleeper, woke up first and woke her sister.
“Come on, get up. Is it possible that it’s always so difficult to wake you up?” Daniela said.
“Oh, let me sleep. What time is it?” Roberta stammered.
“Come on, wake up. I want to know what place this is,” said Daniela, shaking her sister.
Roberta opened her eyes, confused.
“Well, I was sleeping so well that I forgot where I was. We’ll try to figure out what happened…”
She got out of bed and walked through the living room. The floor was dark, extremely smooth, and reflected their images. They tiptoed to look through the hatch. They saw Earth, enchanted, the size of a football.
“Isn’t that cute, Dani?”
“It’s wonderful. What are we going to do here?”
“I don’t know, but I’m not afraid, I can’t explain why. The people who brought us here treated us so nicely that I can only imagine that they wish us well.”
“I have the same feeling. I’m just sad for our parents. I know they’ll be worried…”
“Look at that monitor. It’s them!” said Roberta.
The monitor, on a bench, showed the girls’ parents in the garden of their home.
“They really are sad, but they also seem a bit relieved,” Roberta continued.
“That’s what I told you, we were a burden to them. And they have Ricardo. Soon, very soon, they’ll get over this.”
“You look so calm. The truth is, I am too. I feel so light, so sure, as I’ve never felt before.”
“Well, let’s just relax, wait, and see what happens.”
A Warm Welcome
A few minutes later, the door slid open to one side and a humanoid entered the room, saying:
“You have finally awakened. We were looking forward to this moment.”
Daniela’s eyes widened in surprise:
“You have… You have… You…” Trembling, she couldn’t finish the sentence.
The two heads of the humanoid smiled.
I do not know why they are so scared, there is reason to be.
The Siamese twins looked at each other and smiled.
No, there really was no reason
