Steve Jobs’ Apple Turnaround: Think Different Campaign

Steve Jobs’ Triumphant Return to Apple in 1997

The aim of this report is to show how Steve Jobs revitalized Apple and brought it back to its original position when he returned to the company in 1997.

The ‘Think Different’ Campaign

The information was gathered from Steve Jobs’ biography. According to the gathered information, we can state that Jobs, together with Lee Clow and his creative team, reminded people that Apple was one of the greatest brands in the world. They did not show what the computers could do, but what creative people could do with the computers.
They tried to remind everyone that Apple was about people who thought outside the box. Accordingly, their print campaigns featured black and white portraits of iconic historical figures, for example, Einstein, Gandhi, Lennon, Picasso, Martha Graham, and James Watson, with just the Apple logo and the words “Think Different”.

Building a Lifestyle Brand

What Jobs did was to create the only lifestyle brand in the tech industry. People are proud of having an Apple product because it says something about them.

Internal Challenges and Solutions

Addressing Teamwork and Motivation Issues

After the meeting, we can confirm that individualism and poor communication among sellers are the reasons for teamwork problems. Furthermore, we found that motivation problems are based on the fact that there are no incentives, and many goals are not met by the company. Finally, customer complaints stem from poor customer assistance and a rude attitude by employees.

Recommendations for Improvement

To solve these problems, we recommend giving some training courses to employees so they can learn how to work together, introducing higher commissions to motivate them, and finally, trying to improve customer service.

Summary of a Listening Exercise

International Work Experience

The listening is about a man who works internationally. He has worked in Mexico, Germany, and Spain. He likes working in different countries and becoming a better person. He worked as a manager in Mexico, and he doesn’t like to push people. Working in Mexico is fun; people are open and friendly, and in this way, people could communicate more easily with partners and with bosses. Finally, he said that the best food came from Mexico because it’s closer to Spanish food.
