Machine Elements: Fixing, Coupling, and Sealing
Machine Elements
Fixing Elements
These elements are used in the union and fixation of machine parts.
Rivet
A cylindrical body with a rounded head, made of steel, aluminum, copper, or brass. Used for permanent bonding of two or more pieces.
Pin
Unites articulated parts, allowing one piece to move by rotation.
Peg
Unites parts that are not interconnected.
Cotter
A wire shaped like a half-cylinder that is folded and has a circular head with two uneven legs. Prevents the output of pins or nuts during vibrations

Hydraulic Tools
Operation: Based on the transmission of energy through fluid.
- Energy is harnessed by a hydraulic motor, transforming it into mechanical work energy.
Component Parts:
- Engine: An explosion or mechanical generator supplying electric power to the hydraulic pump.
- Hydraulic Pump: Communicates mechanical energy to the engine through the fluid. Maintains adequate flow and pressure.
- Fine Filter: Filters impurities from the oil to prevent system clogging.
- Gauge: Indicates oil pressure
Study of the Battery
A battery is any element capable of storing electrical energy for later use. The elements that form a battery are shown in the figure above. The liquid inside the battery is called the electrolyte, which is composed of a mixture of distilled water and sulfuric acid with a ratio of 34% sulfuric acid and the rest distilled water. The electrolyte level must be one inch above the plates.
Coupling Batteries
To achieve higher voltages (V) or battery capacity (Amp-hours Ah) than those available with standard
