Technology, Music, and Travel: A Personal Perspective

How have new technologies influenced your life? Explain. Firstly, new technologies have influenced the majority of lives in the world because it is a new worldwide technology. Besides, we should describe all the elements involved in these new technologies, such as email, social networks (Tuenti, Twitter, and Facebook), smartphones, online shopping, online and multiplayer games, and online newspapers, magazines, and TV channels. Thanks to these new technologies, we can all do many things without going out of our homes. In my particular case, since new technologies have been developed so much, I buy many things on the internet, such as clothes and accessories, technical devices, music, and movies, etc. They have also influenced my life regarding the way in which I communicate with my friends and family, through social networks or thanks to mobile applications on my smartphone, such as the “WhatsApp application” or the online program “Skype.” On the other hand, nowadays I rarely buy any newspapers because I mostly read them on the internet, on their online webpage. I think that this is more quick and easy, besides being so much more comfortable to have the possibility of knowing what is happening in the world without moving out of your house.

How important is music in your life? Write about your tastes. I would like to start this speech with a sentence which was the advertising slogan a few years ago: “Can you even imagine your life without music?” Obviously, it was a campaign for a radio music channel, and it became so popular up to the point of making young people start wearing some T-shirts and stickers of the advertising slogan. But… it is true! I cannot even imagine my life without it. I would like to say I consider myself a regular person, with normal likes and dislikes, so I am not linked with music in any professional way. However, everywhere I go, I am always listening to my favorite music on my iPod player. If we talk about my tastes, I must say I do not have a particular taste. I mean, if you have a look at my playlist, you can find music dance, rock, pop, etc. Moreover, there is some kind of music, and there are some songs which are deeply joined to our lives, and we cannot listen to this or to that song without remembering that summer or that other special person, and that is only because music is a very important part of us. In conclusion, we don’t need to be musicians or anything related to love music, and to feel that we cannot even live without it… And that’s just because life without music is not life.

What distant or exotic country would you like to visit? Give me reasons for your choice. I would like to travel to any other place in the world, and to enjoy it so much. The destination is not such an important thing but meeting the culture and the people living there. Considering this fact, thinking about trips to exotic places is so an attractive experience for me, that I would like to go to the most is Tahiti. Tahiti is a country placed in Polynesia, which is a well-known environment that covers some islands like Hawaii (which belong to the USA) and many other islands which are dedicated to tourism. I cannot easily watch a TV documentary about this country with Spanish people living there, and I automatically fell in love with it and I dedicated that I want to go there. It is not only because of the beaches or the specific tourism product, but because of their traditions, their peace, and, of course, their lifestyle. What I mean, is that it is not so important visiting very popular places, or very tourist ones, but there are some places in the world which are not so popular but it is absolutely advisable to go for enjoying their beauty. In conclusion, Tahiti is one of the places that I would love to visit, but maybe because of the exoticism, is one of the places I would like to visit the most.

Would you like to have a humanoid robot in your home? Why or why not? Firstly, I think that robots and human people are not compatible. Although films have shown us that both species can live together, I think that this possibility is not real at all, and that currently there aren’t any kind of robots which may be able to substitute any of our daily habits and routines. From my point of view, the technology is not as advanced as it must to coexist with humanoid robots, neither at home or at work, because this would require to build smart robots which were able to do some things that we do every day, such as doing the shopping, understanding and taking care of our children and relatives, being competitive in our jobs, etc. Regarding the possible fact of having a humanoid robot at home, I think in the same way, it is to say that they wouldn’t be so advanced and intelligent to be able to cook, the clean the powder in the most little corners and spaces of our homes, etc. For all these reasons, I wouldn’t like to have a humanoid robot at home, and I think that in case these robots became as smart as us, each species must live in different environments and areas.

What do you do to look after yourself when you catch a cold or the flu? I rarely catch a cold or the flu, just once or twice a year, but in those moments I feel really sick and tired. It is usually in Autumn or after Christmas holidays, because in these seasons and months I always go to the north of Spain, so the possibilities of catching a cold or the flu are bigger than those of people who may stay in Madrid or who may go to the south looking for the sun and the hot which disappear during these cold months. If I catch one of them, I stay at home, my grandmother prepared a liquid mix of water, a bit of lemon, and a small quantity of sugar to make me drink it in order to come down the temperature. Besides, I stay at the bed or in the sofa covered by a blanket and almost always sleeping or trying to sleep. On the other hand, I usually take medicines twice or three times a day in order to feel
