Teen Part-Time Jobs: Benefits and Drawbacks
Teen Part-Time Jobs: A Worthwhile Experience?
Nowadays, teenage students worldwide are increasingly engaging in part-time jobs, especially in developed nations. Although there are different views on this topic, I believe it is a good idea for teenagers to take up part-time jobs while they are students. They can learn about responsibility, punctuality, the value of money, and how to work as a member of a team.
Developing Responsibility and Punctuality
Students can learn to be responsible and observe punctuality while they study. They have to come to work on time every day, and there is no time for relaxation.
Understanding the Value of Money
In addition to that, students can learn the value of money. Students will realize that it takes a lot of time and effort to make a living. Students will also make wiser choices when buying things with the money they earned from their sweat.
Teamwork Skills
To sum up, It is a valuable experience for teenagers to have jobs while they are students because they will learn to be responsible adults. They will have an appreciation of money and they will learn about working with others.
The Benefits of Part-Time Work for Students
In some countries, teenagers work while they are studying. Some say that it is not a good idea for children, but others think it is useful for students to work part-time. In my opinion, I completely agree with students’ part-time working. Earning money and gaining more experience for their future jobs are prominent reasons.
Financial Independence
It is obvious that most students work part-time to earn money, maybe to support their education, or maybe to gain a more free and satisfying life regarding finance. Some students whose families cannot provide enough money for their school expenses really need money to support their studies as well as to help their families.
Career Development
Another advantage of working part-time is to support their future career. When students work, they can practice the theory they learned in class. This also creates inspiration in studying and helps them know exactly what is important and needs more attention.
I believe that teenagers working while they are students is not bad. In contrast, this is good if you really know how to manage your time well. I advise you to work part-time and choose suitable jobs for your future career.
The Downsides of Working from Home
In the present age, it is common for people to work from home because of advances in technology. On balance, I would argue that this has more negative impacts than positive. Despite positive factors, however, there are a number of disadvantages.
Lack of Social Interaction
The first of these is the fact that those who work at home nearly all the time will not be mixing with colleagues. When people are at work, they are always surrounded by others, but at home, an employee is likely to be alone most of the time.
Reduced Influence in the Company
Another drawback is the fact that one may have less influence in the company. It is often the case that important decisions arise on the spur of the moment as unexpected issues arise. If an employee is not there, others may have to step in. If this occurs on a regular basis, the employee’s contribution to the company may decline, meaning a higher probability of getting overlooked for things such as promotion.
In conclusion, although there are positives and negatives related to working from home, there are more negative impacts. Employees should therefore consider carefully whether working from home is the best choice.
Group Work vs. Individual Work: Finding the Right Balance
There are multiple ways to work on projects: some people choose to form a group, while others may find it more effective to work individually. I myself think that I am better at completing tasks alone; however, I never underestimate the effects of group working.
Advantages of Group Work
In the first place, working in a group is actually advantageous. Initially, members of the group have different thoughts, so they generate a variety of good ideas. Moreover, the volume of work can be divided among members, and each person has the chance to choose a task which is most suitable for him. As a result, the whole group needs less time to complete the work.
- Diverse Ideas: Members bring different perspectives.
- Shared Workload: Tasks can be divided based on skills.
- Efficiency: Projects can be completed faster.
For example, if a group of four were asked to write a biography of a famous figure, information about his private life and his achievement could be found by three of them, while the other one would be responsible for writing as he is best at it. Hence, the effect of the group’s work would certainly improve.
Personal Preference for Individual Work
I know that cooperation is very important in working, and forming a group is a great idea. However, to me, working alone has its attraction, and I have been quite successful with it. I do not mind cooperating with other people, but individual working will still be my first choice.
The Advantages of Working from Home
The office has no longer been the only workplace since many people are considering working from home. Some may argue that the majority of employees should change their workplace from the office to home. In my opinion, the benefits of working from home can surely surpass the drawbacks due to the following reasons:
Comfort and Flexibility
Working from home is a lot more comfortable for lots of people. Employees can save a great deal of time and money since they do not have to travel so often, which means people will have more time for work and for themselves, too. Less travelling will also help reduce traffic jams and pollutants to our environment. Besides, working at home does not mean staying inside all day long, people can choose to work in their garden or backyard, wherever makes them feel convenient to work.
Increased Productivity and Reduced Stress
Moreover, employees are under less stress since they get to decide when to work and when to take a rest. These things will help them deliver better perfomance on their tasks.
In conclusion, working from home should be encouraged because the advantages overcome the disadvantages.
