The Impact of Social Networking and Cell Phones on Relationships

The Impact of Social Networking and Cell Phones

Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook all come to mind when someone says “social networking.” Nowadays, visiting these sites is a part of our daily routine. Sure, it’s a good way to keep in contact with your friends and family, but can it be too much of a good thing? In my opinion, social networking sites are beneficial if used in certain ways, but can also be harmful if used incorrectly.

Benefits of Social Networking

First of all, these sites make it possible to communicate easily. This allows you to keep in touch with friends and family who may live far away. You can use these social networks to meet people, stay connected with family or friends, and share pictures whenever you want. These sites are very beneficial in keeping the user in touch with the entire world.

The Dark Side of Social Networking

Finally, the ease of social networking means that people act completely differently over the internet than they would in real life. Often times, people find it easier to bully over the internet. This may be because they feel like there won’t be as severe consequences as if they were to bully in real life. Although, the consequences for cyberbullying are becoming more and more severe as people are starting to realize how serious it is becoming.

These reasons explain how, if used correctly, social networking can be very beneficial. They also show how easy it is to get in trouble over the internet. Furthermore, I feel social networking sites are a good way to keep connected with friends, family, colleagues, etc., when used correctly.

The Impact of Cell Phones

Cell phones are not just distracting kids, but also distancing them from their families. Many people tend to believe that cell phones are devices that are for keeping in touch with families, but really are just distancing them.

Cell Phones and Distancing

First, cell phones seem to be very useful to kids at first, but when they have all of these things like Facebook and Instagram, it seems like they are always on their phones. This is a problem because it is bad for the child and their relationship with others. For example, many kids have their cell phones wherever they go, no matter where they are going or what they are doing. Clearly, this is how cell phones are distancing kids from relationships and families, and is why this distance needs to be closed.

Second, when kids are on their cell phones, they tend to ignore anything else that is going on. For example, a teen can be checking Facebook, and when an adult is talking to them, they do not hear a word of what was said. Because of this, children and teens start to believe that they need to be on their phones.

Owning a mobile phone means you can solve many issues and hold most of the information around the world. But it is not good for our health, and we have to protect ourselves from the bad effects of mobile phones if you choose to have one.

Cyberbullying

Nowadays, cyberbullying is affecting our lives badly. This occurs when a person attacks another person on the internet through social networks like Facebook, etc. Cyberbullying is very serious and can be self-destructive.
