Carmesina, aided by her confidante, Stephanie, navigates the complexities of her feelings for Tirant. A parallel love story blossoms between Stephanie and Diaphebus, a nobleman, encountering fewer social barriers. Adding to the mix is the vivacious Plaerdemavida, whose cheerful nature brightens Carmesina’s days and plays a key role in the unfolding romance.
Part 2: Battles and Betrayal
The Sultan renews his offensive, forcing Tirant to strategize within the confines of Maleveí Castle. Outnumbered, he employs cunning tactics to outwit his foes, feigning retreat to launch a surprise attack. The Duke of Macedonia, however, exploits this ruse to spread false news of Tirant’s defeat, aiming to undermine the knight’s standing.
Tirant secures another victory, sending spoils and prisoners back to Constantinople. His success fuels the Duke of Macedonia’s jealousy, leading to a confrontation where Tirant offers to resign his captaincy. The noblemen present reject this offer and condemn the Duke’s behavior.
Reinforcements arrive from Sicily, led by the Duke of Messina, and Carmesina joins the campaign with her own army of women.
