Determiners

  • Articles: the, a, an
  • Demonstrative: This, that, these, those, such
  • Possessive: my, your, his, her, its, our, their
  • Numbers: one, two, first, second, double
  • Undefined: no, some, much, little, different, several, other, every, either
  • Interrogative/Exclamatory: what, how much
  • Possessive: whose, which

Pronouns

Two types:

  • Deictic: Refers to an extralinguistic reality. (e.g., It’s for her)
  • Anaphoric/Cataphoric: Refers to a reality present earlier in the text. (e.g., Rent a movie and we saw it yesterday)

Types of Pronouns

  • Personal: I, me, you, he, him, she, her, it, we, us, they, them
  • Relative: which, who, whom, whose, that
  • Demonstrative: this, that, these, those
  • Possessive: mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs
  • Numbers: three, four, etc.
  • Indefinite: someone, anyone, anything, everything
  • Interrogative/Exclamatory: what, who, how
