Understanding Social Structures and Human Behavior
Health Policy
Transparency. Public administrations and agencies must report their participation in citizen actions. Both plenary sessions of parliament and municipalities are public, and any citizen can attend them as a spectator.
Judicial action. Intervention by the administration of justice to detect and prosecute criminal acts and impose penalties to repair the damage is a way of defending ethics and assuming the responsibilities that correspond to each.
Making Policy
Elections, political parties, neighborhood associations, referendums, popular legislative initiatives, commissions of inquiry, strikes, and demonstrations.
Equity
Justice and equal treatment.
- Patriarchal system structures that remain
- Institutions. There are laws that forbid women from exercising fundamental rights.
- Mentalities. Habits that promote inequality in the distribution of work, sex roles, etc.
- Stereotypes. Practices are reinforced and fueled by advertising, which still identifies women as housewives, sex objects, etc.
International Women’s Day
On March 8, 1857, workers in the textile industry in New York organized a protest against poor working conditions and low wages. In 1908, there was a demonstration involving 15,000 workers in New York to demand better living and working conditions, women’s right to vote, and the end of child labor exploitation. Inspired by these actions, the Socialist International Conference in Copenhagen in 1910 proposed an international day of action to mark the movement for women’s rights. On March 8, 1911, this call materialized, and the International Day of Women was celebrated for the first time. In 1977 the UN declared March 8 the United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.

Ethics
The reflection on how we act. The question of how to act is inevitable: whether you spend much time thinking about it or not, our way of life is giving an answer. A person has a margin of freedom to decide and choose the answer that is considered best. It is part of the thinking behind the integrity and sense of human behavior, according to regulatory principles, which are derived from some duties and obligations.
Dimensions of a Person
- Biological. Heredity on one side and the living conditions on the other define the characteristics of our body. Elements: physique, growth phases, and health.
- Psychological. How to be satisfied is one of the keys to our behavior. It determines in good part how we act or react to what happens. Elements: intelligence, feelings, and emotions.
- Sociocultural. These are groups such as family or friends, but also the culture or historical era in which we are educated. Elements: education and family, interpersonal relations, culture, and historical situation.

Black Dots
- Seeking power for power’s sake. Personal interest or that of a small group works to preserve power. It is achieved by limiting freedom of expression, attempting to nullify the opponent, not accepting the outcome of democratic elections, and taking measures of a popular character to please people in a misleading way.
- Corruption. Major policy decisions often have major economic implications. Some individuals try to get illicit profits from these operations by using their influence and buying favors from elected or appointed officials.
- The reason for the State. It is argued that it is better for everyone’s sake that a person rises. Greater tranquility may be achieved with such actions as eliminating some opponents and breaking up demonstrations by firing guns.
