Unveiling Family Secrets: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Sad, happy, jealous, excited, sympathetic, regretful, grateful, angry, alarmed… Human beings experience a wide range of emotions.

It was a day at home just like any other day, far from the city center, near the mountains. That day was darker, cloudier, and windier than usual. In that moment, I felt something horrible was going to happen.

I didn’t know what was coming. My heart was racing, pounding like a drum, rising and rising until the climax arrived.

My body, scared of the whistles of the wind, I was shivering and sweating.

Suddenly, when I least expected it, a rusty metallic sound clanged. It was an uncomfortable noise, followed by something falling down.

I followed the noise until the main door at home, and I saw a white piece of paper, which gave me an especially intriguing feeling. It controlled my body from the soles of my feet, pushing me forward with every step towards the paper, and to my mind, to give me thoughts of the possibilities that lay ahead of me.

I ran as though someone was chasing me. I slowly unfolded the white letter. I got a shock. I didn’t move for a few minutes. Salty water from my eyes started to fall down. My hand was shaking, and the paper flew to the outside with the wind, dancing in the sky. My eyes were concentrated on my thoughts, and I made a deep and strong sigh.

The next day, when the sun said to me, “Good morning,” with a smile, I smiled back at her and said, “Good morning,” to the new day.

I sat down; I put my folded arms on the table, holding my head. I started to find a plan to resolve this new mystery of my life.

I was thinking a lot of things, such as how it is going to change my life and if it is going to change my attitude around the world.

My parents, who I thought were mine, were not the parents I thought. My entire world would change, and I was scared and frustrated.

My mind was as if someone put me upside down and shook me. I was red, a pure and dark red, nearly to explode with emotions inside of me.

My thoughts seemed to move like the waves of the sea, and my heart was beating and driving my thoughts and the waves on.

I called my parents to make sure that what the letter was saying was true. They came hastily, and when I saw them, I realized nothing seemed as before. Everything made sense when I longingly gazed into their waiting eyes.

Everything was a big lie which was being kept for too long. My mum wasn’t my mum, my dad wasn’t my dad, my whole family weren’t my real family, and my blood wasn’t their blood.

Where Do We Go from Here?

My mind was all over the place. My parents were looking at me with crystalline eyes as if they were going to start shedding tears.

I started to feel really dizzy. My stomach was playing up, my head was spinning, and I wasn’t focused on anything. My look wasn’t focused on anything; I was dreaming. The house seemed to shrink and spin with me. My look wasn’t concentrated. My body started to feel cold and hot at the same time. My lips were dry, and I couldn’t breathe. I felt as if someone knocked me on the head and with alcohol inside of me, my vision started to blur. The sadness was in my whole body, wanting to sink me until I wished my death.

After some minutes of holding my breath, the beat inside of me was starting to feel lazy and started to beat at the normal tempo. I breathed again, deep and strong, and I felt my lungs getting pure and fresh air.

My parents were looking at me with crystalline eyes as if they were going to start shedding tears.

My parents’ eyes didn’t want to tell me that I was not from that family as they loved me, and I knew that I would be hurt if I knew before, but somehow destiny or luck told me the true story by the letter.
